To ensure no laser breakdowns, every manufacturer recommends performing routine maintenance of device. The frequency can differ, but it is advised to have it done at least once a year.
The aim of each routine maintenance is not only to check current condition of device, to exchange liquids and wear parts (e.g. water and air filters), but most importantly to check the laser power (energy). If it is not consistent with the manufacturer specification, the power calibration is necessary. Otherwise, the incorrect laser emission will not give the expected treatment results and in extreme cases can constitute a substantial risk to patient’s health. The above mentioned reasons prove that routine maintenance is extremely important and ensures both safety as well as patients’ satisfaction with applied laser treatment.
Each routine maintenance should be confirmed with a note into technical passport, required during possible control.
